POP LIFE: ‘DEAR EVAN HANSEN” COMPOSERS ON their songwriting process.

Oscar winning “Dear Evan Hansen” composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, known together as Pasek and Paul, stop by the “Pop Life” bar to speak about their songwriting process, how they got started, their creative process and their attempt at becoming triple threats.

“Ideally, nobody can separate it out, like the music really works but the lyrics don’t work. If we’ve done our job we’ve created something that really functions as one voice and it’s not even our voice it’s the characters,” says Paul. “Ultimately our job is to be as invisible as possible and just have it be believable that the character is expressing this emotion and these words in this way,” adds Pasek.
