NEWSTALK 1010: Black Conflux – Exploring Womanhood and Toxic Masculinity

Richard fills in for Barb DiGiulio on NewsTalk 1010’s The Nightside. Richard speaks with the Canadian-born, Los Angeles-based director Nicole Dorsey whose film “Black Conflux” plays at TIFF this year.

TIFF’s Discovery program features new and up-coming talent. “This is where you want to look for the next decades’ masters,” says Cameron Bailey. This year Discovery continues its initiative of championing female filmmakers with 54% of its selections directed by women. One such director is Ryerson University’s film production program graduate and commercial and narrative film director Nicole Dorsey. Her TIFF debut, the Newfoundland set Black Conflux, is a psychological drama involving a teenager and a troubled adult that was a finalist in Francis Ford Coppola’s Zoetrope Screenplay Contest.
