“Ideally, nobody can separate it out, like the music really works but the lyrics don’t work. If we’ve done our job we’ve created something that really functions as one voice and it’s not even our voice it’s the characters,” says Paul. “Ultimately our job is to be as invisible as possible and just have it be believable that the character is expressing this emotion and these words in this way,” adds Pasek.
