Richard to host Geneva Centre for Autism & Spectrum’s Talking Pictures

Imagine watching a movie made by someone with autism, rather than about them.

See this perspective for the first time at Talking Pictures: Made by me not about me! This festival showcases short films made by those with autisim spectrum disorder. It’s an opportunity to draw interested people directly into their stories, rather than rely on others to tell the stories for them.

We often see media created about individuals with ASD. For many people their only cinematic reference is Dustin Hoffman’s Rain Man. Even Claire Danes’s brilliant portrayal of Temple Grandin in the biopic was still just that: a portrayal. Individuals with autism have found themselves the subject of countless documentaries and feature films rather than the creators and the mavericks calling the shots. Spectrum Productions and Geneva Center for Autism aim to change that.

4:30 pm November 26, 2017 at The Regent Theatre (551 Mt Pleasant Rd, Toronto, Ontario)
